The “Roseanne” spin-off – which Deadline says could be greenlit within the next week, now that they’ve worked out the ‘Roseanne’ factor (she’ll be reportedly paid a one-off fee pre-production) – will likely be called “The Conners”.
As opposed to the previously-rumoured ‘Darlene’, which would’ve seemingly focused largely on one character (Sara Gilbert’s ‘Darlene’), “The Conners” would keep the same structure as “Roseanne”, and play out more of an ensemble and therefore continuing to utilize, in addition to Gilbert, the talents of Laurie Metcalf, John Goodman, Michael Fishman and the other survivors of the recently-canned ABC series.
A final decision on whether the series goes ahead has to be made within a fortnight.
