Paramount have released the first trailer for “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit” just a day after the dead of the character’s acclaimed author Tom Clancy.
Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the film will see Chris Pine take over as Jack Ryan, the hero of Cold-War era novels including “The Hunt for Red October” and “Patriot Games” and bring him into the modern day.
“Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit” will follow Ryan from the events of 9/11 through to Afghanistan and then into the CIA, where he finds himself uncovering a Russian plot to destroy the US economy.
Screen siren Kiera Knightley will star alongside Pine, as will Kevin Costner and Branagh.
Written by Adam Cozad and David Koepp, the thrill will burst into cinemas on Christmas Day.
