The Importance of Being Spoofy

After those incessant Leslie Nielsen comedies, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Hollywood has blacklisted any writer who came to town with a ‘spoof comedy’ script in tow.

But somehow – for some reason – the genre seems to be on its way back – with two new “Scary Movie” movies and a thing called “Soul Plane” in the works – and Monty Python’s Eric Idle is hopping a ride.

The funnyman has written a script called “The Remains of the Piano”, and it’ll go before the cameras Aug. 18 in British Columbia and the United Kingdom.spoof’ on ‘costume dramas’ Idle has enlisted quite a cast – Geoffrey Rush, Anjelica Huston, Patrick Stewart, Catherine O’Hara, Orlando Bloom, Alfred Molina, Neve Campbell, Billy Connolly, Tim Curry, Michael York, Julian Sands, Will Kemp and Jim Piddock.

Let the joviality ensue!

Max and Legolas for "Revelations"?

Now it's a "Scary Movie"!
