Penn Badgley, aka Gossip Girl himself, is set to appear in the psychological drama “You”, Lifetime’s straight-to-series thriller. “You” has been written by Sara Gamble and Greg Berlanti, and is based on the Caroline Kepnes novel of the same name.
It’s described as a 21st century love story that asks “what would you do for love?” (via Deadline). Badgley will play a bookstore manager who crosses paths with an aspiring writer, who he then creepily tries to get close to via the internet and social media. Sounds just like modern day dating to me. However his obsession then spirals out of control, and he tries to remove any obstacle in between him and his unrequited life.
Badgley has also had a recurring role on “The Slap”, and appeared alongside Emma Stone in “Easy A”.
“Full House” sequel “Fuller House” is approaching its third season, and series creator Jeff Franklin has announced via Instagram that the season will premiere on Netflix on September 22, which is appropriately the 30th anniversary of the “Full House” debut episode.
Series regulars Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin Andrea Barber, Michael Campion, Elias Harger, Soni Nicole Bringas, Dashiell and Fox Messitt, Juan Pablo Di Pace, Scott Weinger, John Brotherton, Ashley Liao and Adam Hagenbuch will all be returning for the third season, with recurring appearances from “Full House” vets John Stamos, Lori Loughlin, Bob Saget and Dave Coulier. No details yet on what to expect in season 3, though.
Franklin also noted that he will be having a drink to celebrate that night. For me, it’s a Friday night so I too, will be drinking. Cheers, Franklin.
Speaking of Netflix, they’ve also nabbed a yet untitled film by writer-director Dan Gilroy. The flick will be set in the art world, and stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo. It’s a regular “Nightcrawlers” reunion with that line up, following up on Gilroy’s directorial debut.
Gilroy also directed “Inner City” with Denzel Washington. The film will also receive a small theatrical release alongside its debut on streaming service Netflix (per Deadline).
HBO Films adaptation of the Ray Bradbury novel “Fahrenheit 451” has a new cast member, with Laura Harrier signing on to star opposite Michael B. Jordan. Earlier this month we also announced that up-and-comer Soufia Boutella had joined the cast, and Michael Shannon and Lily Singh are also on board.
In “Fahrenheit 451”, young fireman Montag (Jordan) struggles to regain his humanity in a future where media is opiate and history is outlawed. Harrier will play Montag’s wife Millie, immersed in social media and all things digital, which ends up in a disconnected marriage (thanks Deadline).
Ramin Bahrani is directing the film, and you can also check out Harrier in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” as Peter Parker’s love interest Liz Allan.
