The Mummy reboot loses it’s latest director

Andres Muschietti has departed Universal’s reboot of “The Mummy” due to creative differences, says The Wrap.

The “Mama” helmer replaced Len Wiseman on the project, but now he’s fleeing from the bandaged bad-ass.

This new take on the Universal Movie Monster classic is set in modern times, with the villain having somewhat of a human personality – a’la Dracula. Jon Spaihts wrote the script.

Before attaching himself to “Mummy” 2.0, Muschietti was gearing up to direct an adaptation of Josh Malerman’s novel “Bird Box”. Now that “The Mummy” is no longer on his dance card, the filmy-taker will likely return to it.

Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are shepherding the reboot of “The Mummy” – which is happening sans original hero Brendan Fraser – along with Sean Daniel.
