The Ocean Has Eyes

Dee Wallace joins the cast of Dante Tomaselli’s latest

The marvelously endowed and super-sweet Dee Wallace-Stone (who now actually prefers to be known only as ‘Dee Wallace’; just for the record) will star in Dante Tomaselli’s “The Ocean”, the filmmaker tells Bloody Disgusting.

The film, a chilling horror piece based on an original script by Tomaselli, will see Wallace play a “troubled medium, haunted by visions of eternal damnation.”

“I’m so pleased, she’ll bring so much emotional depth to the part”, says Tomaselli. “Dee’s an outstanding actress whose worked with the best directors and starred in many classic movies. Some of my favorites are The Howling, Cujo, and The Hills Have Eyes. Dee comes from ‘old-school’ horror, which I love.”

Tomaselli later told Fangoria, “I’m scheduled to start shooting with Kindred Media Group in early August in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. This movie is so different, so visually elaborate, so ambitious in every way; more than ever, all the stars had to be aligned. With THE OCEAN, I have a $1.8-million budget and a very strong script co-written by [Fango’s] Michael Gingold, who really fleshed out the story and made it more compelling. And Dee Wallace, the heroine of three of my favorite horror movies—THE HOWLING, THE HILLS HAVE EYES and CUJO—who told me that her ‘heart’ is in the lead character. I loved hearing that. THE OCEAN is a psychedelic horror movie, very gory and violent, but it’s an emotional excursion. It needs a special heart. Dee Wallace is really going to shine.”

Dee’s wonderful. We’ve been working with her on “Between the Sand and the Sky”, and I tell ya, she’s a chameleon (she was doing a western at the same time she was doing “Halloween” – how versatile is that?!), but she’s also a bona fide professional. Tomaselli will enjoy working with her.
