“Divergent” and “The Spectacular Now” duo Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley look to reunite on survival thriller “Adrift” for STX Entertainment.
From “Everest” director Baltasar Kormakur and writers Aaron and Jordan Kandell, the film is based on the true story of a woman who sets off on a sailing trip to Tahiti with her fiance. But after a massive storm, the woman finds herself alone at sea with her boat in ruins. The story, which toggles between the couple’s past courtship and the perilous present, follows her attempts to save herself and the man she loves on a 1,500-mile journey to Hawaii.
Teller, who has two films coming up this year, “Granite Mountain” from Joseph Kosinski and “Thank You For Your Service”, which tackles the topic of PTSD, will play the husband.
The Kandell’s wrote the script on spec, so it’s purportedly a bit of a dream package they’ve formed for themselves.
