Tom Cruise to star in The Mummy reboot?

Internet scuttlebutt has Tom Cruise circling Universal’s reboot of “The Mummy”. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio have been looking for a big star to anchor the Alex Kurtzman directed redo of the monster classic, and are hoping to make a deal with the “Mission : Impossible” star. The film has a set release date of March 24, 2017 so casting is ramping up. Jon Spaihts wrote the script.

Deadline, however, say there’s no deal with Cruise and suggest it’s unlikely the film will nab the superstar.

“The Mummy” is one of several new classic monster movies being redone at Universal. The plan is to do a Marvel Universe-like assortment of movies, where characters like The Mummy and the Wolfman, can crossover into each others movies.
