Trailer : Robin Hood

If Russell Crowe and the Wilhelm scream weren’t enough for you, how’s this for a contemporary update on the Robin of Locksley legend!

“Peaky Blinders” helmer Otto Bathurst helms the latest in a long-line of “Robin Hood” movies, this one – we’re informed by the presser – featuring “gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography” and, judging by the trailer, anything and everything fans of the Wachowski’s demand see in their action pics.

Taron Egerton, of “The Kingsman” fame, plays the role previously made by famous by Kevin Costner, er, Cary Elwes Errol Flynn, “Fifty Shades”‘ Jamie Dorman plays Will Scarlett (aka the role Christian Slater played in the cult classic “Robin Hood : Prince of Thieves”), the out-to-prove-just-how-versatile-he-is Jamie Foxx is Little John, Ben Mendelsohn is – yep, of course – the nasty, Sheriff of Nottingham, and Irish stunner Eve Hewson (“The Knick”) – daughter of U2 Frontman Bono – plays Maid Marian.

Producer Leonardo DiCaprio would seem to have opted not to appear on screen – though there is a chance he might cameo, a’la Sean Connery in “Prince of Thieves”.

A war-hardened Crusader and a Moorish commander mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in this thrilling action-adventure. Packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography and a timeless romance, this is the never-before-seen story of how Robin Hood became the icon and legend as we know him today.

“Robin Hood” opens November 29.

To hold you RB fans over until then, here’s but one magical moment from Robin’s unyielding legacy….
