“Star Wars : The Force Awakens” likely hasn’t even completed post yet (based on Drew Struzan’s recent comments, there might be a rough assemblage) and yet casting is already beginning on the next chapter in the resurrected blockbuster franchise. As these big cats do.
While it is expected Daisy Ridley will be back for “Star Wars Episode VIII”, The Wrap says she’ll be sharing the screen with a fellow leading lady. Up for the undisclosed role, says the trade, are Gina Rodriguez, Tatiana Maslany, and Olivia Cooke.
The trio aren’t the only ones meeting for the role but they are believed to be the frontrunners at this stage. They’ll be doing chemistry reading tests with “Force Awakens” star John Boyega later this month.
Benicio Del Toro was recently reported to be in talks to play a villain in the movie.
Rian Johnson is directing the movie, filming of which is due to kick off early next year for a May 26, 2017 release.
