Dead to Me

Christina Applegate is set to star in Netflix comedy “Dead to Me”, a dark laffer about “a powerful friendship that blossoms between a tightly wound widow and a free spirit with a shocking secret.”

Applegate plays Jen, a poised and put together woman with a dark sense of humor and an anger problem that she doesn’t necessarily want to deal with. Jen has been struggling to keep it together in the months since her husband was killed in a hit and run.

Award-winning actor Diane Lane has signed on to star in the drama series pilot ”Y,” headlining an ensemble cast also starring Barry Keoghan, Imogen Poots, Lashana Lynch, Juliana Canfield and Marin Ireland, it was announced today by Eric Schrier and Nick Grad, Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions.

Based on DC Comics’ acclaimed series ”Y: The Last Man” by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, Y traverses a post-apocalyptic world in which a cataclysmic event has decimated every male mammal save for one lone human. The new world order of women will explore gender, race, class and survival. Lane plays Senator Jennifer Brown, a junior Senator in her first term, she has already made a name for herself in political circles for her willingness to put personal ideals above politics. She is also the mother of Yorick and Hero Brown.

State of the Union

Rosamund Pike and Chris O’Dowd are set to star in a Stephen Frears directed comedy for SundanceTV. According to Deadline, “State of the Union”, which will be a series of ten-by-ten minute episodes written by Nick Hornby, follows Louise and Tom, played by Pike and O’Dowd, who meet in a pub immediately before their weekly marital therapy session. Each episode pieces together how their lives were, what drew them together and what has started to pull them apart.
