TV Casting: GOT, Supergirl, Luke Cage, Doctor Who, Bonham Carter

Pilou Asbæk will play Euron Greyjoy in the upcoming season of “Game of Thrones” (via EW).

Euron Greyjoy is a key character from author George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire”. He is a member of House Greyjoy, the brother of Lord Balon Greyjoy, and uncle to Theon and Yara Greyjoy. In the book, Euron is the captain of a war ship called Silence, which is crewed entirely by mute sailors who had their tongues ripped out by the captain.

Following the casting of Iddo Goldberg as Red Tornado, “Supergirl” has added Glenn Morshower in a recurring role.

Morshower will play General Sam Lane, “a powerful military lifer — and an overprotective father to both Lucy Lane and her sister, Lois. His arrival in National City stirs up trouble for Supergirl when he enlists her in a dangerous government initiative” (via IGN).

Netflix’s next Marvel series “Luke Cage” has added “Sons of Anarchy” star Theo Rossi and “Daredevil” star Rosario Dawson.

Dawson will reprise her “Daredevil” role as Claire Temple, the romantic interest of Luke Cage in the comics. Rossi will play Luke Cage’s enemy Shades aka Alvarez.

“Luke Cage” is the third series from Marvel’s four-series package with Netflix. The second series is “Jessica Jones” – Deadline reports that Dawson’s Claire and Mike Colter’s Cage will also appear in this series.

UPDATE: Deadline is now reporting that Simone Missick has also joined the “Luke Cage” cast as Missy, “a woman with a strong sense of justice”. We assume that the character is actually Marvel’s Misty Knight, “a former NYPD officer who gets a new bionic arm by Tony Stark after losing hers in the line of duty. She eventually launches a detective agency, helping Cage.”

Alex Kingston will reprise her role as Professor River Song on the 2015 “Doctor Who” Christmas Special.

“It’s Christmas Day in the future and the TARDIS is parked on a snowy village street, covered in icicles, awaiting its next adventure. Time traveller River Song meets her husband’s new incarnation, in the form of Peter Capaldi, for the first time this Christmas.”

The Christmas special will air on BBCOne on December 25 (go-figure!).

Helena Bonham Carter will star in the BBC’s five-part fictionalized adaptation of Nina Stibbe’s book “Love, Nina”, about a young nanny from a provincial town in England finding her feet in 1980s London.

Faye Marsay stars as Nina opposite Jason Watkins and Josh McGuire.

Bonham Carter will play Georgia, the “beautiful, forthright mother” to the smart, funny brothers Joe and Max (Ethan Rouse and Harry Webster).
