Rufus Sewell (“Dark City”, “Parade’s End”) will star in a new “Revenge”-esque drama for ABC and “Beautiful Creatures” scribe Richard LaGravenes. The untitled series, set in New York City, “revolves around the love and rivalry between two equally matched, powerful socialites who play out their obsessive attraction to and seduction of each other through their manipulation of others”, says The Hollywood Reporter. Sewell has been cast as “Philip Fitzgerald Julien, an imposing, confident and smart bisexual man who is a master manipulator and adept at seduction and deceit. His cynical world view creates a reality for him that protects a heart that loved once too strongly and refuses to be hurt again. He finds art in destroying and unmasking the lies behind society’s elite and powerful with his skills of deceit and sexual expertise. He agrees to assist his ex-lover Margot — his only equal and the one who broke his heart — in her campaign to annihilate her rich pig of an ex-husband, Anderson Cole. Philip plans to seduce the virginal, naive Cecelia Karelle — an ingenue who is Anderson’s current fiancee, but who is certain to topple happily into Philip’s experienced (though memorably cold-blooded) arms.”

“Smash” alum Krysta Rodriguez has joined the cast of “How I Met Your Dad”, the upcoming spin-off of “How I Met Your Mother” which stars Greta Gerwig. Rodriguez will play Gerwig’s best friend on the CBS sitcom. Says The Hollywood Reporter, “Gerwig stars as Sally, a female Peter Pan who’s never grown up and has no idea where she’s going in life. She has just figured out that she has nothing in common with her husband of less than a year. A breakup is inevitable, but Sally will find a solid circle of support in her friends and family, who often are too willing to give “good” advice that can backfire badly. Meanwhile, Sally must filter out the input and decide what’s best for her. Rodriguez will play Juliet, Sally’s best friend. The character is described as a sexy and flamboyant party girl force of nature, who runs the most successful fashion blog in the country and who is secretly delighted when her best friend breaks up with her “boring” husband. She joins a cast that includes Drew Tarver as Todd, the husband of Sally’s older brother and her best friend from college.” The pilot for “Dad” will film in Los Angeles, but move to New York when it is picked up for series.

“Son of God” star Diogo Morgado has been cast in The CW’s “The Messengers”, joining Sofia Black-D’Elia, Joel Courtney and Jon Fletcher. The show, says The Hollywood Reporter, “centers on a mysterious object that crashes down to Earth and a group of seemingly unconnected strangers who die from the energy pulse. They then awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending apocalypse. Morgado will play a character referred to as The Man, a mysterious figure who wakes up naked and burned in the desert and sets out on a mission to provide some answers about the strange events.”

Lindsay Lohan has booked a guest role on the hit sitcom “2 Broke Girls”. According to Zap2it.com, the “Canyons” star pops up in the April 14 episode as “Claire Guinness, a bride-to-be who turns to Max and Caroline for her wedding cake. However, as the girls get to know their new client, it’s becomes pretty clear that Claire can’t really handle making decisions.” Meantime, Lohan’s reality series “Lindsay” premieres March 9 on OWN.
