Twin Peaks Season 2 on DVD, April 12

Paramount releases specs for long-awaited release

Most DVD releases excite me about as much as bananas on weet-bix these days, but this one has me makin’ yogurt in me’ trousers.

“Twin Peaks : Season Two, Part 1” and “Twin Peaks : Season Two, Part 2” due out on DVD in Australia on April 12 from Paramount.

Here’s the specs for the 2nd set – the only set with extras on it – direct from the press release :

Twin Peaks: Season 2 Part 2
Cat#:DVD6188
Run Time: 495
Genre: Drama
Starring: Kyle MacLachlan Lara Flynn Boyle Madchen Amick Ray Wise Sherilyn Fenn
From MARK FROST and DAVID LYNCH (The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, and Mulholland Drive), the wildly imaginative, darkly comic mystery thriller series that became one of the most acclaimed events in television history, Twin Peaks. Season 1 Part 2 continues the search for the killer of Twin Peaks homecoming queen Laura Palmer, but it’s Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) who comes under investigation when he is suspended from the FBI for his unauthorized raid on the One-Eyed Jacks casino. Despite that obstacle, Cooper uncovers some clues regarding the identity of the person who shot him. And, with help from Sheriff Harry S. Truman (Michael Ontkean), Cooper attempts to decipher the secret of the Black Lodge …an undertaking that may release its sinister revelations just as the town is preparing for its festive “Miss Twin Peaks” contest.
Special Features Log Lady Intros; Director Interviews: Caleb Deschanel, Todd Holland, Jennifer Lynch, Duwayne Dunham, Stephen Gyllenhall, Tim Hunter.

Sounds good, but where’s all the cast interviews? Surely Sherilyn Fenn, Michael Ontkean, Madchen Amick, Richard Beymer, Dana Ashbrook, Michael Anderson, Ray Wise et al aren’t too busy? Heck, Everett McGill has quit acting; he’d probably love to be involved with this – give him something to do. Bit sad. Hey, Billy Zane – who guest stars for a few episodes on “Peaks” in this season – could’ve stopped by, too?

Maybe they’ll do some more extras for “Twin Peaks : The Complete Series” which The Digital Bits say will be released later this year. Said aforementioned site, “….for those of you who are patient and want it all in one shot… we’re told to expect CBS/Paramount to announce a Twin Peaks: The Complete Series box set for release later in 2007 that contains both seasons AND the pilot episode, PLUS lots of newly-produced extras. Watch for details on the box set to be announced in the next few months. ”
