Twin Peaks on Showtime from December 26

Dear Diary,
tonight it got me. And it got me again, and again, and again. I squealed with equal amounts of pleasure and pain. Pleasure because a second coming is always welcome, but pain because I knew it’d be a while before I see anything new.
Love Laura

With thanksgiving just around the corner, no surprise to see Showtime spreading the joy (in return for a few greenbacks, of course). With the road to “Twin Peaks” re-opening early next year on the network, no surprise to discover that Showtime has opened their official “Twin Peaks” store (early) – in time for the shopping nutters that hit the w’s on Black Friday- and, furthermore, set an airdate for a re-run of the first two seasons of the show. Seasons 1 and 2 of “Twin Peaks” will air from December 26 (the day after Christmas), leading up to the premiere of Season 3 first quarter next year.

Every episode of the original series will be made available to subscribers in advance of the highly-anticipated new episodes. Surprisingly, “Twin Peaks : Fire Walk With Me” won’t be a part of Showtime’s offerings. Sure, most consider it lacklustre, but considering quite a few cast members from the movie return for the new season of the show, you’d think they’d have arranged for that to be part of the bundle.

In lieu of “Fire Walk With Me”, the network is offering across its platforms the iconic noir film ”Blue Velvet”, written and directed by David Lynch and starring Kyle MacLachlan, Isabella Rossellini, Dennis Hopper and Laura Dern.

Directed entirely by David Lynch, “Twin Peaks” Season 3 -rumoured to air in April – picks up twenty-five years after the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town were stunned when their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered. Originals, including Everett McGill and Wendy Robie (pictured below), return alongside new cast members like Laura Dern, Amanda Seyfried and James Belushi.
