· Rachel McAdams, Tim Robbins and Michael Pena will star in “The Return,” which Neil Burger will direct. The story follows three soldiers returning from Iraq who become companions on an unexpected road trip across the U.S.
– Wowwee Ltd. today announced that they have joined forces with Arad Productions to bring ‘Robosapien’ to the big screen. The feature film, which will combine live-action and CGI is targeted for release in 2009.
– Will Smith will star in another ‘warm and fuzzy’ drama, “Cooked”, about an inner-city drug dealer turned Vegas celebrity chef.
– Former “Dawson’s Creek” actor James Van Der Beek is to play a footy star in the American version of hit ITV drama “Footballers’ Wives”. The show also stars former “21 Jump Street” co-star Holly Robinson Peete.
– “Big Love” and “Veronica Mars” star Amanda Seyfried is in talks to join Pierce Brosnan and Meryl Streep in “Mamma Mia!”.
– Universal Pictures has acquired the Nick Redfern novel “Three Men Seeking Monsters: Six Weeks in Pursuit of Werewolves, Lake Monster, Giant Cats, Ghostly Devil Dogs, and Ape-Men” as a possible vehicle for Jon Heder. In the book, three guys who’ve separately chased monsters and UFOs unite for one last hurrah, taking one last caravan to every place in the British countryside where monsters have allegedly been spotted.
– Former “Chicago Hope” star Mae Whitman (recently seen on the short-lived “Thief”) will return to series television with a role in “The Bionic Woman”. She’ll play the title character’s younger sister.
– Tim Daly is set to guest star in the “enhanced” two-hour episode of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy”, designed to serve as the springboard for the Kate Walsh-starring spin-off. “Prison Break” star Paul Adelstein has also joined the cast of that episode (and possible spin-off).
– The Bijou Phillips-starring remake of “Its Alive”! has just started shooting in Bulgaria.
– Oscar winner Marisa Tomei has been tapped for the title role of CBS’ comedy pilot “The Rich Inner Life of Penelope Cloud,” lifting the contingency on the project.

– Billy Idol will return to film briefly…. Well, his voice will anyway. The 80s rocker has agreed to voice a character in the upcoming “Cat Tale”, opposite Sean Astin and Elisha Cuthbert.
– Warner Premiere tells Moviehole that they haven’t got any immediate plans to make a “Goonies 2”. Interestingly enough, Warner Bros just snapped up the domain Goonies2.com.
– Rutger Hauer will direct and produce “Changing Fortunes”, the story of Dutch banker Wally van Hall, who stole nearly $600 million from European banks in WWII in order to the lives of 80,000 families.
– Sai Mawng, a retired rebel soldier from the jungles of eastern Myanmar, will play a brutal Burmese officer opposite Sylvester Stallone in “John Rambo”, reports EmpireMovies.com

MI6 reports that one-time Bond contender Goran Visnjic (“E.R”) is rumoured to be up for the role of the villain in the next 007 movie.
– If you head on over to the site’s MySpace page, you can hear the Dante Tomaselli-composed music score for the new horror pic “The Ocean”.
– Master Yuen Wo-Ping (“The Matrix”) will be the action director on the Jackie Chan/Jet Li film “King of Kung Fu” says Monkey Peaches.
– Channel 7, Australia, has experienced its first dive. Seems the TV hit “Heroes” is losing numbers by the week here.
