“Toy Story 3”, “Metal Solid Gear”, “The Mummy 3” and more


Busier than a Nymphette in Antarctica at the moment, so here’s an abridged look at some of the stories that have crossed the wire, today….

· Lee Unkrich will direct “Toy Story 3”, due out in 2009. Tim Allen and Tom Hanks have agreed to come back.
· Julia Roberts, Ryan Reynolds, Carrie-Anne Moss and Emily Watson will headline “Firelies in the Garden”, about a family torn apart by unexpected tragedy.
· Michael De Luca will produce a big screen version of the videogame “Metal Gear Solid” for Sony.
· Patrick Fugit, Lou Taylor Pucci, Clifton Collins, Jr. , Barry Shabaka Henley, Neil McDonough and Peter Stormare have joined the cast of the new Dennis Quaid serial killer thriller “Horsemen”.
· William H.Macy will star in and direct “Keep Coming Back”, a drama about a boy with a weak heart who takes a shine to an alcoholic stripper (Salma Hayek).
· Dakota and Elle Fanning will star in “Hurricane Mary”, the story of a mother who battles to have her handicapped yet gifted daughters to have a public school education.
· Sean Penn, Bruce Willis, Stanley Tucci, John Turturro and Kristen Stewart have joined Robert De Niro in “What Just Happened”?,a movie loosely based on the life or producer Art Linson.
· Mark Romanek has signed to direct “The Wolfman”, a remake of the classic monster movie; with Benicio Del Toro playing the lead.

· Production Weekly says Tom Hanks and Julianne Moore will star in Barry Levinson’s “Boones Lick”, based on a book about a family’s arduous journey by riverboat and wagon from Boone’s Lick, Missouri, to Fort Phil Kearny in Wyoming.
· Coming Soon reports that Disney will release “Haunted High School Music” – the latest in the thriving musical franchise – on the big screen.
· Mark Steven Johnston did a webchat with Empire Online, in which he discusses everything from a remake of “Daredevil” to why “Ghost Rider” only just finished.
· Aint it Cool has a look at the new internet-only trailer for the upcoming “Hot Fuzz”.
· Cinema Confidential says “Indiana Jones 4” has a release date. It’ll be taking on “Speed Racer” in May of 2008.
· Warwick Davis has been cast in “Prince Caspian”. He will play Nikabrik, the Black Dwarf, says Narnia.com
· According to Reuters, there’s no truth to the rumours that FOX is making a “Borat” sequel.
· Anna Nicole Smith died this morning. It’ll be all over the web, and the papers, for the next few days… at which point there will be more news… but for the meantime, here’s a quick rundown.
· Ving Rhames and Robert Duvall has signed for “Glad All Over”, a drama about a group of people connected to an infamous self-help book written by a reclusive ex-football coach. John Herzfeld will direct.
· Jet Li is rumoured to be playing the new villain (aka the new Mummy) in the upcoming “The Mummy 3”, says Mania.com
· FOX has announced that the short-lived TV series “Kitchen Confidential” will be hitting DVD. See TVShowsonDVD for more.
· According to The Age, A TV series based on the David Lynch film “Wild at Heart” is in the works.
· Leslie Nielsen has signed to reprise his role as President Harris in “Scary Movie 5”, and has also agreed to play a part in the spoof “Superhero”.
