Viola Davis talks Suicide Squad

Viola Davis (“The Help”) was recently sworn in to play Amanda Waller in Warner’s upcoming “Suicide Squad” flick.

Fred Topel from Nerd Report had an opportunity to quiz Davis about her role, while they waxed about Michael Mann’s “Blackhat” – which she stars in alongside superhero alum Chris Hemsworth – yesterday in L.A.

Davis tells Topel she hasn’t started reading DC’s “Suicide Squad” comics yet, but sounds like she’s definitely going to be doing some sort of research before playing boss to the super-villains.

“I have not started reading them yet. I’ve read up about her but I’m working out my schedule”.

“I’m fascinated by her”, Davis says of Amanda Waller. “I’m fascinated by her in this world of superhero-ness because she is not a woman that you would expect. I think that she is a massive contradiction. She’s this big powerful black woman, hard, ready to pick up a gun and shoot anyone at will. I’m fascinated in exploring her psychology, just put it that way. And I’m excited to pick up a gun.”

“Suicide Squad”, starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and others, opens August 5, 2016.
