What’s the hold up on Beverly Hills Cop 4?

The long-gestating fourth “Beverly Hills Cop” movie is coming along, slowly but surely.

Director Brett Ratner, who has been attached to the film for several years now, says they’re still trying to get the script into solid shape.

“Working on the script, working on the script”, the “Rush Hour” helmer tells Slashfilm. “It’s a longer process. It’s not easy. A lot of pressure on that one.”

Eddie Murphy is attached to reprise his Axel Foley role for the sequel, which Ratner had previously said would likely encompass the R rated antics of the 1984 original.

Murphy had said in a Rolling Stone interview that he wouldn’t do another “Beverly Hills Cop” unless the script was incredible. Ratner confirmed that Murphy is justifiably picky. “He is, and that’s his franchise”.
