Weinstein’s spoofing Dance Movies
With “Date Movie” making a packet in theatrical and home video, and now “Epic Movie” riding the top of the box office, The Weinstein’s have decided the spoof movie is a viable business to consort with (Granted, this was the company that’s responsible for the influx of spoof pics, being the producer/distributor of the “Scary Movie” series). Their addition to the thriving genre? A spoof on dance movies.
“Dirty Step Stomp” is written by Steve Basilone & Annie Mebane, and spoofs such dance pics as “Dirty Dancing,” “Save the Last Dance,” “Step Up” and “Stomp the Yard.” It’s being set up at Benderspink.
The Weinstein’s also have a fifth “Scary Movie” and a spoof on Superhero films in the works.
