Where are they now? The Cast of RoboCop (1987)

With all the interest in everything and anything OCP at the moment, ‘the old man’ at Moviehole thought it a terrific idea to staple a magnifying glass to our beaks and track down the cast of Paul Verhoeven’s “RoboCop”.

We know Joel Kinnaman, Abbie Cornish, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton and Samuel L.Jackson are currently doing time with that Navy SEAL-looking hero on the Jose Padihla-directed remake, but what of Peter Weller, Nancy Allen and some of the other stars of Paul Verhoeven’s seminal nuts-and-bolts satire? You’ve gotta admit, it’s a good question – we haven’t heard a squeak from a couple of them for a while now.

We found out!

Peter Weller

Played Alex Murphy/RoboCop
Whereabouts Weller’s gearing up for a bit of a career resurgence – particularly within the genre he cut his teeth in. The 65-year-old actor is currently filming J.J Abram’s “Star Trek Into Darkness”, voiced the title character in Warner Premiere’s “Batman : The Dark Knight Returns”, and had starring roles in biffo flicks like “Forced to Fight” with Gary Daniels, and “Dragon Eyes” with Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Nancy Allen

Played Anne Lewis
Whereabouts Allen, who appeared in all three “RoboCop” movies (as well as classics like “Carrie” and “Blow Out”), gave up acting a few years back. The 62-year-old actress now works for a cancer organization in Los Angeles.

Ronny Cox

Played Dick Jones
Whereabouts 74 but not out, Cox is still a mainstay in film and television, appearing on the likes of TV’s “The Starter Wife” (as Pappy McAllister) and such films as “The L.A Riot Spectacular” with Emilio Estevez, “American Outlaws”, in which he played Ali Larter’s father, and the recent Eddie Murphy blunder “Imagine That”. He’s currently attached to play the President in the War film “Nadia’s Promise”.

Daniel O’Herlihy

Played The Old Man
Whereabouts The Irish-born actor, who played the role of OCP’s most senior board member in the first two “RoboCop” films, sadly died in 2005 at the age of 85. His last film appearance was in “Love, Cheat & Steal”, a direct-to-video thriller starring Eric Roberts and Madchen Amick (whom O’Herlihy had also worked with on TV’s “Twin Peaks”, on which he played the role of Andrew Packard).

Angie Bolling

Played Ellen Murphy
Whereabouts Actress and Art Director Bolling played the small but pivotal role of Alex Murphy’s widow in all three “RoboCop” films. Bolling still acts, playing bit parts in the likes of both the feature and television incarnations of “Friday Night Lights” (credited only as ‘Booster wife’ in the film, and Elaine Stanton on the show).

Robert DoQui

Played Sergeant Warren Reed
Whereabouts The man behind one of the franchise’s most likeable characters, veteran copper Warren Reed, sadly passed away in 2008 at the age of 73. His last major credit was in “Doctor Doolittle 2”, playing a photo double to star Eddie Murphy.

Miguel Ferrer

Played Bob Morton
Whereabouts The TV favourite, likely best recognized for his roles on “Twin Peaks” and “Crossing Jordan”, has a career much like Kurtwood Smith’s these days. If he’s not lending his lungs to animated features like “Justice League : The New Frontier” or “Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2”, the 57-year-old’s doing small turns in flicks like “Four Assassins” and “The Courier”.

Paul McCrane

Played Emil M. Antonowsky
Whereabouts The Emmy Winner went on from his “RoboCop” rogue role to play Dr. Robert Romano on TV’s “E.R”. Since then, the 51-year-old has kept a lower profile, mainly because he has switched gears to directing, occasionally popping up in prime-time series like “The Closer” and “CSI” but mostly staying behind the camera.

Ray Wise

Played Leon C. Nash
Whereabouts Wise, who followed his bad-guy role in “RoboCop” with that of his most memorable character, Leland Palmer on TV’s “Twin Peaks”, is still a significantly in-demand actor. The 65-year-old – who, it must be said hasn’t aged a day since “Twin Peaks” – recently appeared in “X-Men : First Class”, “Brother’s Keeper”, and “The Aggression Scale”, which reunited him with “Twin Peaks” co-star Dana Ashbrook.

Del Zamora

Played Kaplan
Whereabouts The thesp behind ‘Kaplan’ went on to work steadily in TV and film, appearing in the likes of “Tortilla Heaven”, “Repo Chick” and TV’s “True Blood”, in which he had the recurring role of Don Bartolo.

Calvin Jung

Played Steve Minh
Whereabouts The 67-year-old actor continued to immerse himself in the world of action cinema, appearing in the likes of “Lethal Weapon 4” and “American Ninja3 : Blood Hunt”. In addition to regular TV guest appearances, he had a role in Garry Marshall’s recent rom-com “Valentine’s Day”. He is also an acting coach, you can visit his website here for more info.
