Who Ya Gonna Call? Magic Mike!

After Paul Feig’s all-girly “Ghostbusters” hits the screen, we’re going to see an all-male counterpart starring Channing Tatum.

As previously spilt in those leaked Sony emails over the Chrissy period, this was an idea cooked up by Tatum and friend Chris Pratt (“Guardians of the Galaxy”), who’ve already got big-time “Captain America : Winter Soldier” helmers Joe and Anthony Russo keen on producing.

Deadline says the idea has solidified into something more concrete; it’ll be a constituent of Ghostcorps, a new production company run by ‘Ghostbusters’ alumna Dan Aykroyd and Ivan Reitman, that exists to milk the bejesus out of the ’80s franchise. The idea is to launch a whole series of “Ghostbusters”-tied films – Feig’s female flick, the Tatum starrer, and possibly one that reunites the original ’80s team.

“We want to expand the Ghostbusters universe in ways that will include different films, TV shows, merchandise, all things that are part of modern filmed entertainment,” Reitman told me. “This is a branded entertainment, a scary supernatural premise mixed with comedy. Paul Feig’s film will be the first version of that, shooting in June to come out in July 2016. He’s got four of the funniest women in the world, and there will be other surprises to come. The second film has a wonderful idea that builds on that. Drew will start writing and the hope is to be ready for the Russo Brothers’ next window next summer to shoot, with the movie coming out the following year. It’s just the beginning of what I hope will be a lot of wonderful movies.”

The plan for Tatum’s “Ghostbusters” is to begin shooting in Summer 2016 for a release in 2017. At this stage, there’s no word on whether Pratt would co-star, as originally planned – and quite honestly, with ‘Star Lord’ so busy, it’s unlikely he’d have time to fit it in. Drew Pearce (“Iron Man 3”) is writing it, and Tatum and his partners Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan will produce.
