Will Jason Statham play Nicolas Cage in a movie that involves Superman?

A movie based on the theft of a comic-book stolen from Nicolas Cage is in the works, says THR.

In 2000, Cage’s “Action Comics No. 1” – which featured the first appearance of ‘Superman’ – was stolen from the “Ghost Rider” star’s personal collection. The comic, published in 1938, wasn’t found until 2011, where it was uncovered in a storage locker.

“Night at the Museum” scribes Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon have transformed the events into a script for a comedy heist flick, appropriately named “Action No.1”, with Liongsate onboard to bankroll.

Nicolas Cage himself would be a character in the film, but it’s not yet known whether the actor wants the gig. The trade says Jason Statham has been mentioned for the film, hinting at the “Crank” actor possibly playing Cage.
