Will Tom Cruise be Warner’s Mortals Instrument!?

Tom Cruise has emerged as the leading candidate to star in Warner’s big-budget sci-fi war pic ”We Mortals Are” (aka ”All You Need Is Kill”).

Though Brad Pitt was said to be eyeballed for the lead role in the Doug ‘Bourne Identity’ Liman directed pic, it’s Cruise who the big wigs now want.

Here’s our 2010 story on the film, to give you a bit of an idea on it’s people and plottings :

“Bourne Identity” and “Mr & Mrs Smith” director Doug Liman is set to direct the time-travel actioner “All You Need is Kill”, says Variety.

The flick, based on the Japanese novel of the same name, has been in development for a few months now. No doubt Liman’s attachment helped “All You Need” inch forward.

The story centers on “a new recruit in a war against aliens who finds himself caught in a time loop in which he wakes up in the past after having been killed on the battlefield. As the soldier’s death and resurrection repeat, his skills as a soldier grows as he attempts to change his fate”, says the trade.

With the actor now cleansed over his nutty behaviour (he hasn’t jumped on a couch in years, apparently), and his next couple of films garnering great buzz (“Misson : Impossible : Ghost Protocol” and “Oblivion” are both hot projects, and “One-Shot”, based on the book of the same name, is sounding cooler by the day), Cruise is in-demand again. The Hollywood Reporter, who broke the news of Cruise’s possible ‘Mortals’ gig, has a really interesting article on how the actor managed to climb himself out of the hole he found himself in a couple of years back.

You guys still keen on Tom Cruise? Has he won you back yet?

As you wish! The cast of The Princess Bride reunite 25 years later!
