Sebastian Stan (“Gossip Girl”, “Captain America : The Winter Soldier”) will play Tonya Harding’s ex-hubby Jeff Gillooly in “I, Tonya”, the Craig Gillespie directed drama about one of sports’ most notorious scandals.
Stan joins Margot Robbie, who plays Harding.
As you’ll recall, Harding fell into disgrace after she and Gillooly plotted to take down fellow professional ice-skater Nancy Kerrigan at the ’94 U.S Championships in Detroit. Ultimately, Gillooly was sentenced to two years in prison for racketeering, with the judge declaring he was the “driving force” behind the plot.
The project, set up with Miramax, gets underway in January.
