A couple of weeks ago Ben Affleck confirmed – something we’ve, let’s admit it, known for months now – he’s no longer playing the DCEU’s Caped Crusader. Soon after, while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel, the “Justice League” actor stated that he exited the role, and consequently the forthcoming “The Batman”, which Matt Reeves is directing (now with a younger actor being sought for the lead), because he wasn’t happy with the script.
While speaking to IGN this week, Affleck reiterated that the script didn’t do it for him – and rather than participate in something he didn’t think was his bag, opted to hand the bat-wing over to another, to-be announced actor.
“We worked on the script, I was trying to figure out how to crack it, and I was never happy enough with it where I thought it was worth going out and making it because I just didn’t want to do a version that I wasn’t really excited by, so I still don’t know.”
One person a tad disappointed that Affleck has hung up his cape is the thesp’s 7-year-old son.
“I just kinda stuck with like, you know, ‘It was my turn and now it somebody else’s turn.’ Because he understands turn taking,” Affleck told ET.
One Samuel is reportedly a big DC Comics’ fan so no doubt he’s going to be poking daddy bear for a while with this one.
