The American Film Market is well underway and today, another bunch of newly-discovered projects – all hoping for some big coin in Santa Monica- that we’ve discovered are going under the hammer.

Grand Isle
Nicolas Cage and Kesley Grammer will star in the Stephen S.Campanelli directed thriller, which VMI Worldwide is shopping. The film will see Cage play a trigger-happy ex-Marine living on a quiet island in Louisiana with his seductive wife (KaDee Strickland). Forced to hire a cash-strapped handyman (Luke Benward) to fix a fence destroyed while he was gunning down a home intruder, he finds his life taking a strange turn, and after a night filled with “greed, sex, violence and unspeakable discoveries,” a detective (Grammer) is brought in to lead a police investigation. The Secret Movie
The Katie Holmes-starring drama is one of the hot ticket items at the market. The movie is based on the self-help book of the same name and will also star Jerry O’Connell and Josh Lucas. The Andy Tennant (“Sweet Home Alabama”) directed movie centers around a hard-working young widow with three children who hires a handyman to fix her house during a terrible storm. As the handyman grows closer to the family, he shares his philosophy of believing in the power of thought to create what we want, but the widow soon realizes he carries a secret connection to her past. Nick Robinson, Michael Shannon, Britt Robertson and Alex Pettyfer will star in the heist thriller, launched by Fortitude International at the AFM in Santa Monica.
Based on a true story, the Seth Savoy-directed film centers on a group of disillusioned 20-somethings who use Chicago as their playground by breaking into the homes of the wealthiest citizens, stealing from the rich and — in a twist on the classic Robin Hood tale — giving to themselves. [More…]
