Ain’t No Mountain high enough for Brolin, Hawkes, Gyllenhaal or Clarke

For his disaster pic – in the sense that it’s about something shitty that goes wrong – “Everest”, director Baltasar Kormakur has rounded up the none-too-shabby quartet of Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Jason Clarke to star.

The pic, which Universal and Emmett/Furla are considering co-financing, set to go before the cameras in November. It tells of “the 1996 disastrous expedition to scale Mount Everest. Three different expeditions were hit by a sudden blinding storm and by the time it was all over, eight climbers died. The tale was first made famous by Jon Krakauer’s Into Thin Air, his first-person account of being among the lucky ones to make it back down the mountain. This film will be sourced from various books and interviews with survivors”, according to Deadline.

Kormakur’s latest film “2 Guns”, starring Denzel and Marky Mark, was a Universal/Emmett/Furla co-production, too.

Well it’s a-boat time, Sony!
