Air Force One sequel lifting off at Sony?

Is President James Marshall still in office!?

A sequel to Wolfgang Peterson’s “Air Force One” (1997) is said to be in the works at Sony.

According to Discussing Film, the follow-up may or may not involve Harrison Ford’s President James Marshall – but likely will involve airborne transportation and heroism.

Personally,I don’t expect Ford will be back to reprise his role in this one – while it was one of the highlights of his ‘90s efforts, it’s not a top 10-er by any means. Plus he has bigger fish to fry at the moment, like a long-awaited fifth “Indiana Jones”.

With Sony ramping up their direct-to-sequel sub-genre in recent years – their new “Benchwarmers” and “Daddy Day Care” spin-offs just hit – it’s quite possible this will by a cinema bypasser.

Happy to be wrong though! Nothing like seeing Ford belting Russian Gary Oldman types out the back of jets, right!?

Kevin Hart will star in a new superhero comedy for STX Films.

“Night Wolf”, says The Hollywood Reporter, “follows a man (Hart) as he meets his future father-in-law for the first time only to discover he is secretly the superhero known as the Night Wolf. ”

Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, two of the writers on “Pokemon : Detective Pikachu”, went in and pitched the comedy.

“Night Wolf” is the latest collaboration between Hart and STX, who released “The Upside” earlier this year and are prepping two new comedies for the actor, including a body-switching comedy titled “Black Friday”.

“After we acquired Night Wolf, we submitted it to Kevin Hart and the team at HartBeat, hoping they would love it as much as we did. It is a big, broad comedy, and the idea is great fun and perfectly matched with Kevin’s comedic talent,” STXfilms chairman Adam Fogelson said Thursday in a statement.

Added Hart: “I instantly fell in love with this pitch about an everyday guy who is meeting his in-laws for the first time and unwittingly discovers his [father-in-law]-to-be is secretly a superhero.”

Hart next appears in Sony’s “Jumanji : The Next Level”.

Some of the more interesting, though as yet-to-harden rumors of the past day or so…

Brosnan butlering for the Batman

This will be solid, if it turns out. Pierce Brosnan is reportedly on the wishlist to play Alfred, Bruce Wayne’s trusty butler, in director Matt Reeves’ “The Batman”. The former 007 would inherit a role previously occupied by the likes of Jeremy Irons,  Alfred Gough, and Michael Caine. Interestingly enough, Brosnan played ‘Batman’ star Robert Pattinson’s father in the film “Remember Me” a few years back. [More…]

Mission : Impossible returning to TV

With CBS and Viacom back under one roof, and knowing the extensive plans they likely have for “Star Trek” across all mediums, no surprise to hear that the “Mission : Impossible” brand could also be extended beyond feature films. The spy series is returning to its original home, TV, for a spin-off series that will fix on the Impossible Mission Division sans Ethan Hunt.  [More…]

Guardians TV series – with Sly?

Sylvester Stallone is rumored to be reprising his role “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2” role of ravager Captian Stakar in a small-screen “Guardians 3000” series for Disney’s new streaming service.
