And the official title for Coming to America 2 is….

COMING TO AMERICA, Arsenio Hall, Eddie Murphy, 1988

The internet was worked into a lather last year when it was announced that Paramount had greenlit a sequel to Eddie Murphy classic “Coming to America”. The film, which would reunite Murphy’s Prince Akeem with many of the characters in John Landis’s original, will be helmed by Craig Brewer with Kenya Barris scripting.

Today, a tidbit on the title. Seems we can stop referring to the film as “Coming to America 2” because Paramount has titled the film – seemingly taking a cue from “Bad Boys for Lif3” – “Coming 2 America”.

In addition, HN Entertainment report that the shoot will take place from August 8 to late October in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and New Jersey.

Barris’s script sees Akeem (Murphy) learning about a long-lost son and returning to America to meet his unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda.

“After many years of anticipation, I’m thrilled that Coming to America 2 is officially moving forward”, Murphy said in a statement earlier this year. “We’ve assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on Dolemite, and I’m looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen.”

Arsenio Hall, Shari Headley, Fred Amos, and James Earl Jones are expected to rejoin Murphy in the film.
