LatinoReview talked to “Agent Cody Banks 2” star Anthony Anderson who said he’s trying to get a film based on the life of singer Donny Hathaway.
“I’m looking into putting together the Donny Hathaway story. That’s something that I’d love to do. I’m really looking to flex my acting muscles. I’ve trained at this since I was 9 and I’m still in school. I want to be able to show some versatility”, he tells the site.
“I can carry a tune. I’m not going to come short. I’m going to represent. Have I let you down yet”
That’s the one I will do. Just because I think it’s a story that hasn’t been told. It needs to be told and people need to hear. People want to hear it.”
Anderson says he’s writing the script and developing the project.
“A friend of mine has the rights to the story for a couple more years. I’ll definitely produce, help in writing it, and definitely develop it.”
Anderson also touched upon an “Agent Cody Banks 3”, saying “Yes, he’s going to Africa. Shaft went to Africa. Agent Cody Banks can go to Africa. I don’t know. That’s all predicated on how this one does. I think so. I’m not going to say it’s better than the first film because it’s so different. Hopefully there’s a Cody 3. I’ll sign on to do it.”
Next, he stars in “King’s Ransom”. “It’s a comedy. I’m a successful advertiser who owns his own company. I’m going through a divorce. I have a girlfriend; my wife’s a golddigger. I come up with this plan to kidnap myself so I don’t have to pay alimony. She comes up with a plan to kidnap me because she thinks I not going to pay alimony. The girl, who I pass over for a promotion and promote my girlfriend instead, she decides to kidnap me to get back at me. We all do it on the same night. It’s wild. Right now we have Kelita Smith as my wife, Donald Faison, and Jay Mohr as the token white guy. That’s all I’m gonna tell you about King’s Ransom.”
