Antoine Fuqua to direct Narco Sub

Antoine Fuqua, whose “Equalizer” redo is already snaring some good early buzz (so much so Sony’s pressed go on a sequel), has been tapped to helm the David Guggenheimed-scripted “Narco Sub”.

The project, which has long been a priority project for Fox, is set “in the dangerous world of drug smuggling, and the title refers to the semi-submersible crafts that South American drug cartels have been using to ship cocaine into the U.S. without having to deal with land-based authorities”, according to Deadline.

Ridley Scott’s production company Scott Free is involved, as is “X-Men” alum Simon Kinberg. Kinberg, who penned current big-ticket item “X-Men : Days of Future Past”, also did a script polish on the flick.
