Armie Hammer not playing Green Lantern

Comeback kid Armie Hammer, winning raves for his brave turn in “Call Me By Your Name”, has shot down rumours that he’s in the mix to play [any] bigscreen superhero soon.

Hammer (“The Lone Ranger”) was hotly tipped to be wearing green for the upcoming “Green Lantern Corps’, and in the past he’s been rumoured for the title role in “Shazam” (which went to Zachary Levi), but the actor tells Happy Sad Confused that he’s not involved in any superhero movies – and might not be for some time.

“I’m trying to answer in a way that’s not going to get me into trouble. Alright, f–k it, might as well go for it. I haven’t seen a superhero movie in a long time where I thought, f–k, I wish I was in that. If a great director came around and said ‘I have this idea’… but at the end of the day, no one’s asked and I’m not going out of my way to do it. For me there’s not like a huge rush. Would I love to own a huge house? Yes, for sure. But at the end of the day I’m more interested now in my artistic credibility.”

A decade ago, Hammer was cast as Batman in George Miller’s abandoned “Justice League Mortal” project.
