Bad Robot’s Superman reboot looming!?

Apparently the winner one of the best, worst kept-secret in Hollywood right now pertains to – well, either that guy from “Friends” or –  J.J Abrams developing a new “Superman” film for Warner Bros.

The rumor has been floated a few times here and there, over the past few months – but today, a pretty solid suggestion that Kal-El may indeed be on Bad Robot’s docket.

Appearing on Barstool Sports’  “My Mom’s Basement” podcast, the of-very reliable Justin Kroll (of ‘Variety’) spoke a little about the recently-announced union of Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Media.

“I hope the new Warner Bros. deal leads to more stuff, maybe someone with a cape. We’ll see. That’s a hint.”

Wouldn’t be the first time Abrams has flirted with “Superman” either;  the “Star Wars” alum wrote the legendary (for lack of a better word) script for “Superman : Flyby” (Google that one).  That script, an origin story that included Krypton besieged by a civil war between Jor-El and his corrupt brother, Kata-Zor, had Brett Ratner attached as director and Josh Hartnett – playing Clarky – among the names locked-in for the cast.

While a “Supergirl” movie is said to be their Kryptonian priority right now, another “Superman” movie would naturally be something WB would want to explore – and probably swiftly, now that they’ve got a ‘Batman’ relaunch on the way and “Wonder Woman” is firing on all cylinders.

The unfortunate thing about all this, of course, is that we’ll unlikely see Henry Cavill back in the blue-and-red duds. All intel points to Cavill and WB parting ways after the lacklustre “Suicide Squad” – and Cavill’s understandably bigger fee – and a new Man of Steel being introduced.

Meantime, we’ve three Super-men in the upcoming “Crisis on Infinite Earths” event on The CW, beginning December.
