Batgirl movie moves forward with new writer

“Batgirl” is making moves following Joss Whedon exiting the project, with a new writer being assigned to the film. Christine Hobson, who penned the upcoming “Transformers” flick “Bumblebee” has been given the task to write a new script, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The “Batgirl” movie will be the heroine’s first solo film, and will feature Barbra Gordon, the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon. Barbra Gordon is the most established version of the character, who was initially introduced in 1961 as Betty Kane.

“Batgirl” last appeared on the big screen in 1997’s “Batman and Robin”, with Alicia Silverstone in the role (a tough role to beat, in my opinion).

Though there were many excited for Whedon’s involvement in “Batgirl”, the writer admitted he had failed to come up with a decent story, hence the new addition.
