Ben Affleck, Robert Rodriguez team for Hypnotic

Ben Affleck will star in a new film for “From Dusk Till Dawn” and “Sin City” director Robert Rodriguez.

The big budget pic “Hypnotic”, being shopped at AFM this week, features the former ‘Batman’ as a detective who, while investigating a string of impossible high-end heists, becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program.

Budgeted between $60 and $80 million, the Studio 8 and Solstice Studios production is the first film greenlit under a partnership between the two banners. Production kicks off in April.

Studio CEO Jeff Robinov tells Deadline, “Working with Ben on his award-winning projects, including Argo and The Town, I have seen how his versatility and creativity has made him one of the most talented filmmakers both in front of and behind the camera. It’s very meaningful to be collaborating with Ben again on this uniquely riveting suspense thriller, and I know he and Robert will make a terrific film together.”

Affleck last appeared in Kevin Smith’s “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot”, which has had a scattered release around the globe since October.
