You didn’t glimpse them in the recent trailer but that doesn’t mean they’re not in the movie. Bill Murray has confirmed that he and his co-stars from the original “Ghostbusters” do appear in this summer’s “Ghostbusters : Afterlife”.
Murray, reprising his role as Peter Venkman in the Jason Reitman-directed film, tells Vanity Fair that the film acknowledges the absence of Harold Ramis’s Egon Spengler.
“Well, we are a man down. That’s the deal and that’s the story that we’re telling, that’s the story they’ve written.”
According to the article, Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver all filmed their roles over the course of a week.
Murray, who had long resisted returning for a third “Ghostbusters”, says “the script is good. It’s got lots of emotion in it. It’s got lots of family in it, with through lines that are really interesting. It’s gonna work.”
According to Vanity Fair, each of the original players has a meaningful part to play in the new film.
Finn Wolfhard, who stars in the film alongside Carrie Coon, McKenna Grace and Paul Rudd, says the film shares the same tone as the original films.
“The trailer only showed some of it, but it’s a Ghostbusters movie. So it’s a really funny film,” the young actor tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Every scene has comedy in it. I’m excited for people to see more of the humor in the movie.”
