The always-dependable Esai Morales, well-regarded for his turns in such films and series as “La Bamba”, “N.Y.P.D Blue”, “Superfly”, “Jarhead 2 : Field of Fire” and SyFy’s “Caprica”, has replaced Nicholas Hoult as one of the bad fellas on the next two “Mission : Impossible” movies.
Because filming on the seventh “M:I” film has been delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, like so many other projects, “X-Men” alum Hoult was forced to drop out. Morales steps in to play the rogue, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.
While filming might be off the cards for the time being, the production, spearheaded by director Christopher McQuarrie, has been conducting meetings via zoom.
“Mission : Impossible 7” – and presumably, “Mission : Impossible 8”, which will film shortly after- teams Tom Cruise with Rebecca Ferguson, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff, Vanessa Kirby and Henry Czerny. It’s due for release November 19, 2021.
