Speaking to The Adelaide Advertiser for the release of “Hidden Figures”, legendary actor Kevin Costner said he’s still somewhat interested in doing a sequel to 1992’s “The Bodyguard”.
The actor and Oscar-winning director said he’d be keen to play title character Frank Farmer “in a different place in his life”.
“It’s all about the writing for me,” he said. “The sequel, when you do it, you’re basically telling people to back a truck up, get a big shovel and that’s how much money you’re going to get. They have a tendency to be a lot about the money. So I would revisit that movie, in the right way.”
Costner said it wouldn’t necessarily have to be a singer this time around.
“It could be an idea of guarding another person.”
The writer of the original ‘80s classic “Dirty Dancing” believes – despite the fact lead Patrick Swayze has left us? – there’s still potential to do a sequel.
“I am now thinking I might be ready to do a sequel,” Eleanor Bergstein told the BBC.
Johnny and Baby “very particular people who find a very particular reality with each other, and I do want to explore that now” she added.
While Jennifer Grey would no doubt be keen to reprise the female lead, producers would have to find a replacement for the late Swayze, who died several years ago of pancreatic cancer.
