Netflix has acquired an action-comedy pitch for a film that will star Glen Powell (“Top Gun : Maverick”) and Jay Ellis (“Insecure”). Screenwriter Michael Diliberti’s film will revolve around two young Secret Service agents who are stuck with the worst detail in the First Family… the President’s black sheep son. Hulu is prepping “Books of Blood”, an original film based on Clive Barker’s horror anthology, from ”The Orville” duo of Brannon Braga, who is co-writing, executive producing and will direct in his feature directorial debut, and Seth MacFarlane, who is exec producing. Further to yesterday’s report that David Benioff and D.B Weiss left their new, long-planned “Star Wars” trilogy due to time constraints, a report from Variety suggesting that the duo instead clashed with Lucasfilm brass over the direction of their contribution to the long-running franchise.  According to the trade, the twosome wanted to steer away from the Skywalker series and instead tackle a film – or three – “exploring how the Jedi came to exist.”

Amazon Studios has today announced that Leslie Mann (‘The Other Woman”, ”This Is 40”) will star in the ten-part global thriller, ”The Powe”r, based on award-winning Naomi Alderman’s international best-selling novel of the same name. Mann will play the charming and ambitious politician Margot Cleary-Lopez in the series.

Netflix has dropped a new trailer for the Henry Cavill-starring fantasy series “The Witcher”, which will be available December 20.
