Orion Pictures has released a first look pic (above) from “Bad Trip” ahead of the film’s world premiere at SXSW this year.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the flick stars Eric André, Lil Rel Howery, Tiffany Haddish, and Michaela Conlin in this hilarious hidden camera comedy.
This hidden camera comedy follows two best friends as they go on a cross-country road trip full of hilarious, inventive pranks, pulling its real-life audience into the mayhem. “Bad Trip” Opens April 24, 2020.
Quentin Tarantino said recently that it’s unlikely he’ll helm his long-proposed “Star Trek” movie. We took that to mean that the film won’t happen, but according to the filmmaker Paramount may still make the film, retaining QT’s services as a producer.
“I think they might make that movie, but I just don’t think I’m going to direct it. It’s a good idea. They should definitely do it and I’ll be happy to come in and give them some notes on the first rough cut.” [More..]

James Wan will produce a new animated series based on his blockbuster “Aquaman” movie for HBO Max.
HBO Max announced today at the WarnerMedia Television Critics Association (TCA) day, a greenlight for a three-part animated mini-series Aquaman: King of Atlantis that will be executive produced by James Wan (Aquaman and the upcoming Malignant) through his Atomic Monster production company. Based on the classic DC character created by Mort Weisinger and Paul Norris, each of the standalone episodes will have a unique storyline following the adventures of Aquaman as protector of the deep. Aquaman: King of Atlantis joins HBO Max’s powerhouse animation line-up that includes Looney Tunes Cartoons, Jellystone, Adventure Time: Distant Lands, Little Ellen, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, Rick and Morty, The Boondocks and more.
“This DC property is a fan-favorite rich with well-known characters and dynamic storylines,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max. “On the heels of Warner Bros. Pictures’ box office smash hit, we are certain Aquaman: King of Atlantis will be an exciting addition to our already robust slate of kids and family programming.”
Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, the series begins with Aquaman’s first day on the job as king of Atlantis and he’s got a LOT of catching up to do. Luckily, he has his two royal advisors to back him up – Vulko, the scholar, and Mera, the water controlling warrior-princess. Between dealing with unscrupulous surface dwellers, elder evils from beyond time and his own half-brother who wants to overthrow him, Aquaman is going to have to rise to the challenge and prove to his subjects, and to himself, that he’s the right man for the trident!
A new trailer for Daniel Radcliffe’s “Guns Akimbo” has been released ahead of the film’s March 5 release via Madman.
Nerdy video game developer (Daniel Radcliffe) is a little too fond of stirring things up on the internet with his caustic, prodding, and antagonizing comments. One night, he makes the mistake of drunkenly dropping an inflammatory barb on a broadcast of Skizm, an illegal death-match fight club streamed live to the public. In response, Riktor (Ned Dennehy), the maniacal mastermind behind the channel, decides to force Miles’ hand (or hands, as it were) and have him join the “fun.” Miles wakes to find heavy pistols bolted into his bones, and learns Nix (Samara Weaving), the trigger-happy star of Skizm, is his first opponent.
Gleefully echoing elements of Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, the Purge franchise, and videogames like Mortal Kombat, Guns Akimbo is hilariously dark, viciously violent, and potentially — chillingly — prescient. Director Jason Lei Howden (Deathgasm) foretells of a future that may soon await us: drone-captured live feeds, UFC-like competitions pushed to an extreme, and online streaming platforms used for gladiatorial entertainment all around the world. As Miles navigates the underworld of Skizm, the stakes — and the ratings — have never been higher.
The future of the popular Netflix series “Mindhunter” is in doubt, says Deadline. A network spokesperson essentially confirmed the report, noting that David Fincher is busy with other projects and as such there’s no update on a third season. “David is focused on directing his first Netflix film ‘Mank’ and on producing the second season of ‘Love, Death and Robots’. He may revisit Mindhunter again in the future, but in the meantime felt it wasn’t fair to the actors to hold them from seeking other work while he was exploring new work of his own.”
The upcoming live-action “Green Lantern” series from Arrowverse EP Greg Berlanti will feature “the origin stories of two major Green Lanterns on Earth”, Sarah Aubrey, the head of content at HBO Max, said during the TCA’s this week. [More...]
TNT have announced that “Snowpiercer” will premiere Sunday, May 31.
TNT launches its highly anticipated post-apocalyptic sci-fi series Snowpiercer, starring Oscar(R) winner Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind) and Tony Award(R) winner Daveed Diggs (Hamilton, Black-ish), on Sunday, May 31 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
