Bryan Singer gives Superman update

There’s a profusion of rumours floating about at the moment signalling Brandon Routh’s possible boot from "Superman". The rumour is as false as Pammy’s main attractions. A WB contact tells us that Routh’s doing "dazzingly good" as the chap with the undies over the trousers and that any talk of Tom Welling replacing him is no more, no less than "Welling fans – hoping for something like that to happen". That’s that then.

Meantime, Superman Homepage caught up with "Superman" director Bryan Singer who updated the daddy of all things Superman, Steve Younis, on the film’s progress.

Singer told the site the movie kicks off in two weeks, he just has to cast one more role. "A female accomplice for Lex Luthor".

Younis asked why Singer has decided to do the film as a sequel to the original films? "Um, because I’m a huge fan of the original film. I think that kids under the age of 18 know "Smallville", I think over that age they know the series and the original film, and I think somewhere in there I didn’t want to tread over that", he tells.

Singer says Superman will have been away for a while in the film. "Between four and five years".

The Director went on to say that Brandon Routh and Kate Bosworth, Clark Kent and Lois Lane, respectively, have great chemistry.

"Yeah, I read Kate with Brandon, and they were really terrific together. And she was great. I met her through Kevin Spacey’s film Beyond the Sea", says Singer.

As for Routh’s costume? "It’ll be contemporary but classic in its design".
