Bryan Singer produced X-Men series coming to FOX!

With the “X-Men” movie series now about as compelling as watching a truck lift up a recycle bin, producers seem to be transitioning the brand to the small screen.

Hot on the heels of FX’s semi-“X-Men” spin-off, “Legion” – which apparently has little to do with the films that preceded it – FOX TV has greenlit a pilot that for an “X-Men” series that apparently ties in with Bryan Singer’s film series. Singer’s also an executive producer on it. Matt Nix, who created “Burn Notice”, wrote the screenplay.

The story apparently involves two parents who are forced to go on the run after they discover their children have mutant abilities. The government aren’t friendly towards mutants, and together with other families they meet along the way, the clan must do whatever they can to survive.

While it’s unlikely they’ll be main players, sounds like we may get to see appearances from characters we know and love – even if’s the less-expensive John Stamos playing Wolverine this time ‘round.

In a recent interview with IGN, series producer Lauren Schuler Donner suggested we’ll also see classic villains the Sentinels – you’ll remember them from “X-Men : Days of Future Past” – on the show.

“Matt’s [project] is much more a part of just the [X-Men] world in terms of there are mutants, mutants are hated and there are Sentinels — though very different from what we’ve seen before,” Donner said.

In other words, ‘We can’t afford to do on a weekly basis what we’ve done in the movies, so expect some changes.’
