Casting: Thor: Ragnarok, Iron Fist, Eastwood, Lyonne, Barrymore

“Creed” star Tessa Thompson will play the love interest of Chris Hemsworth in the next “Thor” movie.

According to Deadline, her character will “be a kind of superhero and will appear in other Marvel films as well”.

“Thor: Ragnarok” is being directed by Taika Waititi and also stars Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Jamie Alexander, Mark Ruffalo and Lou Ferrigno.

Production will likely begin at the end of July for a November 3, 2017 release.

 

 

David Wenham is set to play Harold Meachum on Marvel and Netflix’s “Marvel’s Iron Fist”.

A ruthless corporate leader, Harold Meachum was partners with Danny Rand’s parents at the time of their deaths. What role he plays in Danny’s past and future will be revealed over the course of the series.

Wenham joins Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist) and Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing) in the show which sees Daniel Rand return to New York City after being missing for years. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

 

 

Scott Eastwood (“Suicide Squad”) has joined the cast of “Fast 8”. He will play a protégé of Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody.

Vin Diesal, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham and Charlize Theron are also in the cast.

F. Gary Gray is directing.

“Fast 8” will open on April 17, 2017.

 

 

Natasha Lyonne is in final negotiations to join Will Forte and Domhnall Gleeson in Netflix’s biopic on National Lampoon co-founder Douglas Kenney, titled “A Futile and Stupid Gesture”.

“Kenney was the editor of the Harvard Lampoon when he met Henry Beard and Robert Hoffman, which, soon after graduation, resulted in the creation of National Lampoon, the humor magazine that became a major force and brand in 1970s comedy. Kenney ended up going Hollywood and succumbed to drug and alcohol issues before falling off a cliff in Hawaii under mysterious circumstances” (via Variety).

Lyonne will play one of the first writers hired at National Lampoon.

 

 

Drew Barrymore and Blythe Danner have been hired as guest stars on the second season of Jill Kargman’s “Odd Mom Out.”

Based on Kargman’s novel “Momzillas”, the second season of the comedy sees Jill attempting to reboot her career and Andy struggling to assume the Mr. Mom role in her absence.

Barrymore will play Jill (Kargman) and Andy’s (Andy Buckley) rude neighbor Meredith, while Danner will play Jill’s mother, Sarah Kaplan.
