Casting bits : Lexi, The Sopranos, Jumanji 3, Gary Oldman

CBS comedy “Lexi” has added some new names to the cast, which already includes star Adam Devine, Michael Peña and Alexandra Shipp. Joining them is Rose Byrne, Justin Hartley, Wanda Sykes, Ron Funches and Charlyne Yi. The film is being directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore of “Bad Moms” fame.

“Lexi” is currently in production, and according to Deadline explores what can happen when you love your phone more than anything else in your life. Byrne will voice Lexi, an omnipresent AI assistant who takes her job of ‘making his life better’ much too seriously.

 

The follow up film to “Jumanji”, titled “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”, has added “Lethal Weapon” star Danny Glover to its cast. The flick, which is again being directed by Jake Kasdan, also stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Awkwafina and Danny DeVito, and is set to be released December 17 of this year.

The plotline for the highly-anticipated sequel is being kept under wraps. Via Deadline.

 

“The Sopranos” prequel, titled “The Many Saints of Newark” already has a massive cast, but is adding to its ranks with Corey Stoll and Billy Magnussen the latest to join the cast. Alessandro Nivola, Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga are also on board. The character roles are being kept under wraps at this stage, except for Nivola – playing Dickie Montisanti.

“Sopranos” creator David Chase is co-writing the prequel screenplay, and Alan Taylor is directing.

“Darkest Hour” star Gary Oldman is set to star opposite Olga Kurylenko in “The Courier”, a UK action thriller set to begin production in London this month.

Kurylenko will play a courier whose daily deliveries are interrupted when she discovers that her latest package is a bomb aimed at killing a witness who is about to testify against a ruthless crime lord, played by Oldman.
