Casting : Charlie’s Angels, Sonic the Hedgehog, Watchmen

Three high-profile projects added more cast this week.

Charlie’s Angels
“Power Rangers” star Naomi Scott has reportedly joined the cast of director Elizabeth Banks’ new adaptation of the classic TV series. Scott would join Kristen Stewart and Lupita Nyong’o in the film, which is expected to begin lensing in Berlin in September. (That Hashtag Show)

Sonic the Hedgehog
Jim Carrey will play the villainous Doctor Robotnik, a.k.a. Doctor Eggman, in Paramount Pictures’ upcoming “Sonic” movie. While the movie is expected to use CGI, Carrey is expected to play the role completely himself without the aid of a PC. (Deadline)

Watchmen
HBO’s upcoming adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s graphic novel has added Frances Fisher (”Titanic”), Tom Mison (”Sleepy Hollow”), Jacob Ming-Trent (“Superfly”), Sara Vickers (”The Crown”) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (“Aquaman”) to its already-impressive cast.
