The reboot for “Charmed” for the CW has its first cast member with Ser’Darius Blain (“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”) cast as a co-lead. The script for the reboot has been penned by Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin, and is set in the the current day.
Per the CW, “this fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series centers on three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done.”
Deadline reports that Blain will play Galvin, the ideal boyfriend, funny, mellow, in touch with his emotions, totally on board to follow his lady across the country for her dream job. An aspiring filmmaker who has yet to catch the break he’s sure is just around the corner.
Ray Fisher (“Justice League”) has been tapped to star as a series regular in “True Detective” season 3. He joins already cast Mahershala Ali, Carmen Ejogo, Stephen Dorff, Scoot McNairy and Mamie Gummer, and new cast members Rhys Wakefield, Michael Greyeyes and Jon Tenney – who are also set to be series regulars.
Per the Deadline report, the third season tells the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods. Fisher will play Freddy Burns, Wayne’s (Ali) son. Wakefield, Greyeyes and Tenney will play recurring characters Henry Hays, Brett Woodard and Alan Jones, respectively.
Jason Statham is in talks to join “Killer’s Game”, an action thriller to be directed by D.J. Caruso. The film will be based on a book by Jay Bonansinga, which was released way back in 1997, with Hollywood trying to forge into a script since it was in manuscript form. In that time, directors and actors have come and gone, so let’s not hold our breath on this latest development.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the script centres on a veteran assassin who is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and takes a hit out on himself to avoid the pain that is destined to follow. After ordering the kill, he finds out that he was misdiagnosed and must then fend off the army of former colleagues trying to kill him.
