A Round-up of who’s doing what with whom

Funnyman Keegan-Michael Key has been cast in an undisclosed role in Paul King’s “Wonka”, a musical reimagining of Roald Dahl’s children’s book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”.

Timothee Chalamet plays the character previously played by Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp, respectively, in a film said to be set in the eccentric Choccie Factory’s owners younger years.

Hayley Atwell (“Agent Carter”) will voice Lara Croft in Netflix and Legendary Television’s upcoming “Tomb Raider” anime series.

The new series, based on Square Enix’s iconic game, marks the character’s anime debut. ”The story will pick up after the events of the “Tomb Raider” video-game reboot trilogy, charting a new adventure (in new territory) for the globetrotting Lara Croft 25 years after her first game launched.” [More…]

WarnerMedia Kids & Family announced today the voice cast for the upcoming Warner Bros. Animation series ”Batwheels”. Ethan Hawke (”The Good Lord Bird”) as Batman and Jacob Bertrand (”Cobra Kai”) as Bam the Batmobile lead a talented cast for the preschool animated action-adventure comedy series featuring the most heroic and iconic vehicles from the DC universe.

The announcement was made by Bertrand during a special virtual event celebrating the launch of Cartoonito, WarnerMedia Kids & Family’s new preschool programming block available on HBO Max and Cartoon Network. He was also joined by Batwheels cast mate AJ Hudson (”The Good Place”) who voices the character of Duke Thomas, the first Black character to don the Robin “R” in the pages of DC comics. Batwheels represents the first on screen portrayal of the character.

Cynthia Erivo (“Harriet”) and Andy Serkis (“Lord of the Rings”) will join Idris Elba in a Netflix film continuing the story of Luther.

Jaymie Paine will direct the feature, billed as “an epic continuation of the Luther saga,” from a script by series creator and writer Neil Cross.
