Michelle Pfeiffer, Lucas Hedges, and Tracy Letts are set for “French Exit”, a surrealist comedy from director Azazel Jacobs. Based on the international bestselling book of the same name by Patrick deWitt, The pic follows 60-year-old penniless Manhattan socialite Frances Price (Pfeiffer), whose plan to die before her money ran out doesn’t pan out. “True Blood” alum Evan Rachel Wood will star alongside Jim Sturgess and Shinobu Terajima in “One Thousand Paper Cranes,” the story of Hiroshima survivor Sadako Sasaki and author Eleanor Coerr. Richard Raymond (“Desert Dancer”) will direct from Ben Bolea’s script, the story of Sasaki, who was a 2-year-old in Hiroshima when the atomic bomb was dropped on the city in 1945. She was later diagnosed with leukemia caused by exposure to radiation from the blast. She drew strength from a Japanese legend that, if she folded 1,000 paper cranes, she would be granted a wish, which in her case was to live. [More…]

Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Emile Hirsch, Paz Vega, and Jeremy Piven will star in ”American Night”, a neo-noir thriller helmed by first-time film director Alessio Jim Della Valle. The script, by Della Valle, follows Michael Rubino (Hirsch) who has just become the Don of the New York Mafia, but his greatest dream is to devote his life to painting and become a great artist.
