Casting : Vikander, Keough, O’Connell, Edgerton, Hill




Alicia Vikander (“Tomb Raider”) and Riley Keough (“Logan Lucky”) are circling Netflix and Scott Free’s “The Earthquake Bird” for Wash Westmoreland. Based on the novel of the same name, the female-driven noir thriller that tells the story of young female expat who is suspected of murder after her friend goes missing in the wake of a tumultuous love triangle with a handsome local photographer. The project originally took root at Amazon Studios, but Netflix will make the picture and has set a May production start in Tokyo and Sado Island.

Jerry O’Connell is set to play Sheldon’s brother on CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory”.

Joel Edgerton will star opposite “Call Me by Your Name’s” Timothee Chalamet in Netflix’s “The King.” Aussie director David Michod will direct the film, based on a script he co-wrote with Edgerton, and produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B. Based on Shakespeare’s plays “Henry IV” and “Henry V,” Chalamet portrays in the pic a young, disgraced prince who inherits the crown and must learn what it means to be a king, guided by his one true friend, Falstaff (Edgerton).

Stephen Hill (”Law & Order: SVU”) is onboard CBS’ “Magnum P.I.” pilot from Peter Lenkov, Davis Entertainment, CBS TV Studios and Universal TV Studios. Hill will play Theodore ‘TC’ Calvin. A former Marine Corps chopper pilot, TC runs Island Hoppers, the smallest but best helicopter tour business in Hawaii. TC is one of Magnum’s group of loyal friends who bonded when they were all POWs in Iraq.

Filmmaker Ryan Braund is developing a animated sci-fi feature film titled “Black Box”, based on his award-winning screenplay.

The plot sees a reclusive programmer finding his mind inexplicably linked to his homemade supercomputer. Braund describes it as a dark, psychological sci-fi thriller dealing with issues such as mental illness and the dangers of super intelligent machines hacking humans through social engineering. It’s a film that constantly keeps you guessing as David (the protagonist) struggles to determine whether his machine is malfunctioning or if HE is malfunctioning. “Kind of like Darren Aronofsky’s ‘PI’ crossed with ‘Ex Machina’ and Shane Carruth’s ‘Primer'”

The voice cast of the film include Nick Eriksen (David), Jeremy Smith-Sebasto (AL), Heather Gonzalez (Amy), Jef Leeson (Jerry)

The screenplay won the Festigious award for Best Screenwriting in 2018, was a semi-finalist in the Write/LA Competition, and in the top 20% of screenplays at the Austin Film Festival.

Meet the cast of The Craft remake!

The leads have been cast in the remake for “The Craft”, with Gideon Adlon, Lovie Simone and Zoey Luna joining previously announced Cailee Spaeny. Zoe Lister-Jones is directing the film for Blumhouse and Columbia Pictures.

The movie is a remake of the 1996 cult classic, which starred Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell, Christine Taylor, and Rachel True. The story followed a newcomer at a Catholic prep high school who falls in with a trio of outcast teenage girls who practice witchcraft, and wage curses against those who tick them off.

Adlon currently stars in Netflix’s teen drama series “The Society”, and recently starred in “Blockers” alongside Leslie Mann, John Cena and Ike Barinholtz. Simone is one of the stars of drama series “Greenleaf”. Luna, a transgender actress and activist, made a name for herself by starring in “15 A Quinceanera Story: Zoey” that aired on HBO. She also starred in a short film, “Boundless”.

Remake alert : Princess Bride, House Party

An rumor concerning an inconceivable remake of 1987 classic “The Princess Bride” has sent fans into a dizzy.

Hidden in a Variety profile of the film’s producer Norman Lear, word that Lear has received numerous offers from some “very big names” wanting to “redo” “The Princess Bride” .

Cary Elwes, who starred in the original film alongside Robin Wright and Mandy Patinkin, was quick to pan the idea of a remake.

Meanwhile, New Line has commissioned a reboot of another classic — ‘90s hip hop comedy “House Party”.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Calmatic, the director behind the music video for “Old Town Road (Remix) has been hired to direct, with LeBron James – currently producing a sequel to “Space Jam” – producing.

Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori from FX’s “Atlanta” wrote the new script, one which hopefully features designated roles for Kid n’ Play.
